Sneak Preview of Our Portable Pool!

This term our school has the portable pool for the whole term. Room 28 was very excited when we noticed the Water Care people turned up to fill the pool. In between of our speech writing some children sneaked out with Mrs Singh and we watched the process of how they filled the pool up.

Also some local ducklings outside seemed to want a dip in the frosty water as it was being filled up.

Last week and this week Rosebank Primary School got visited by Harold and his Life Education Trust bus.  Life Education is a health based education resource, teaching children the wonder to their bodies and what good substances are needed for healthy lifestyles.

They teach health to primary and intermediate school children each year.  They go into schools by invitation.

Why is Life Education Important?
  • It encourages students to develop life skills
  • Students gain knowledge about health choices
  • Students develop self esteem and a postivie understanding of themselves
  • Students develop strategies for relating to others
It was really fun and interesting, we learned all about drugs and alcohol and what they do to you and what you need to look out for and things like that.
Our learning intention was to
  • identify the difference between helpful and harmful drugs
  • understand that drugs change the way the mind or body works
  • recognise that drugs enter and travel through the body in a variety of ways.
We got to see Harold!!  It was really cool, mind you we are Y5/6 class and its weird but we get excited very time we see Harold.

Tyren Fonoti was the winner of homework/communications artwork book winner from Academy School Books.

Some of us had the opportunity to interview Tyren and here are some the questions we asked him.

Amy:  How did you feel when you heard you had won the competition?
Tyren: I was very excited that I had won the competition as I had put a lot of time in my artwork.

Nathan: What made you colour this piece of artwork so vibrant?
Tyren:  I like bright colours and wanted the colours to really stand out.

Alia:  Did you ever think your artwork was going to be on the cover of the Academy School Book.
Tyren:  Nope as there are so many children who are such good artist than me.

Tresardi:  What inspired you to draw these designs?
Tyren:  I am a Samoan and I like drawing patterns.  I had Samoan, Tongan and other island cultural patterns on my art.

Rahil:  Do you want to be an artist in the future?
Tyren:  No, I don't want to be an artist as I like to be rugby league player.  I just like drawing for fun.
